The Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (Treatments) is recommended for a complete beginner to the beauty industry that is looking to train as a Laser Specialist or a Level 2 and 3 Beauty therapist wanting to upskill. 

Some of our students use this course as a fast track entry into the Beauty industry, as the training is quick, Laser treatments are very popular and there is a shortage of good Laser therapists in the industry. Beauty therapists also find that having a Laser qualification improves their job prospects and earns them more money than nails and basic beauty treatments. 

On completion of this course you will be able to obtain a treatment licence from the council to carry out Laser and Intense Pulsed Light treatments and be able to set up a Laser clinic.

Course Overview

You will learn all the health and safety relevant for setting up a controlled laser room and how to carry out laser treatments across all body areas with our state of the art  Laser machine equipped with, Nd:YAG, Alexandrite and Diode wavelengths that safely treat light and dark hairs and skin types I-VI. Skin rejuvenation techniques are taught using  the Q Switch laser for the removal of pigmentation and Carbon laser peel. 

Prior to hands-on training, you will be sent a  pre learning laser theory PowerPoint presentation, a student manual to study and laser assignments to complete. The pre learning on this course is carried out remotely before the practical training starts at the academy.  This ensures most of your course is spent on the practical aspect of the course which is crucial to get you confident and ready to deliver treatments in the workplace.

UV40462 Management of health, safety and security in the salon

This unit focuses on equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure the well-being and security of both you and your clients. It covers various aspects, including identifying potential health and safety hazards within the salon, implementing effective safety measures, and adhering to relevant regulations and guidelines. Additionally, it emphasises the importance of maintaining a secure environment, safeguarding client information and being able to handle emergency situations.

UV30468 Client care and communication in beauty-related industries

You will be trained in how to effectively  communicate with your clients, how to understand their needs and preferences and provide personalised service. Additionally, the training emphasises the importance of maintaining a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and client comfort. Successful completion of this unit equips you with the knowledge and abilities to create a positive and safe client journey.

UV40413 Laser and light treatments for hair removal

The Laser hair removal unit will teach you how the  4 laser wavelengths can be customised to treat different hair and skin conditions such as treating light, fine hairs and light skin with Alexandrite 755 nm; the Diode 808 nm, for treating medium-coloured hairs and medium skin tones; the Nd:YAG 940 nm, capable of reaching deeper follicles treats dark, dense, hairs with deep follicles; and the 1064 nm wavelength, treats denser, dark hairs with darker skin types V-V1. The summative assessments in this unit are carried out in class, while the assignments are completed remotely.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course. A complete beginner to the beauty industry can also take this course.

Structure of the Course

DAY 1 PRACTICE

Day 1 teaches the Laser hair removal unit, which starts with a question and answer session to test your knowledge covered in the pre learning PowerPoint presentation before the practical live demo by your tutor showcasing hair removal techniques tailored to different skin types and colours. To reinforce your learning, you actively participate in hands-on practice sessions, mastering how to use and collaborate the laser settings, carry out consultation and be able to give aftercare advice and manage risk and complications.

DAY 2 SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS

Once you show proficiency in your practice sessions with each other, you will start working on models and carry out summative assessment practice on hair removal and when  proficient these will progress to your final summative assessments. You will be scheduled to carry out a range of hair removal assessments using all 3 Wavelengths, on light, medium and dark hairs and on Skin types for 1-V1 on multiple clients.

DAY 3 SKIN REJUVENATION ASSESSMENTS

You will learn how to use the laser machine and watch a practical demo of the Carbon laser peel on a model. Followed by a hands on practice session of the carbon laser peel on each other or a model, also mastering how to use and collaborate the laser settings, carry out consultation and a step by step Carbon laser peel.

You will be scheduled to practise a range of Skin lesion removal on different models throughout the day using all 3 Wavelengths and on skin types from I-V on multiple clients. 

Once you are proficient and have successfully carried out your formative assessments you will be scheduled to sit your final summative assessments.
