BT3A10 VTCT Level 3 Award Facial Electrotherapy

VTCT  Level 3 Award is the first step on the Ofqual regulated pathway for a beginner to aesthetics that replaces the old CPD Level 5 Diploma in Aesthetics. 

With the legislation changes nearing, it’s really important for all students that have already done the CPD Level 5 Diploma in Aesthetics to do the Ofqual Level 3 and 4 qualifications. 

The Ofqual pathway to aesthetics is non negotiable, the councils are now asking for regulated qualifications for  electrotherapy facials, chemical peels and microneedling, hence we have introduced the Level 3 and 4 now, so our students can carry on doing these treatments.

We have tried and tested the Qualifi level 4 and 5, however, we are not going to speculate and make our students do level 5 and 7 until the legislation guidelines are clear and made public. 

 We have partnered with VTCT/ ITEC, as they have straightforward exam processes and have 3 decades of experience in the industry compared to the new awarding bodies that really don’t know what they are doing.

Course Overview

This course commences with an induction that guides you through your personal scheme of work, that includes a schedule of theory learning by PowerPoint presentations and course manuals, when and how to complete assignments for the 1 unit remotely from home. After you complete the induction, your practical training in Electrotherapy facials begins, followed by practical assessments and theory exams conducted in our academy under supervision.

Once you complete your portfolio of evidence, you will be ready to take the final practical exam. We have designed this course to give you hands-on practice on models to get you confident and prepare you for ITEC Level 4 Diploma in Aesthetic practice.

Provide Facial Electrotherapy treatments

This Level 3 Award consists of 1 unit which  will provide you with in-depth knowledge of health and safety procedures critical for conducting electrotherapy treatments safely and effectively. It includes training on essential anatomy and physiology (A&P) needed for these treatments. You'll also learn how to conduct client consultations, planning, and preparing treatments tailored to individual needs in accordance with VTCT requirements. Additionally, the course covers how to perform various electrotherapy facial treatments for different skin conditions, utilising direct and indirect high frequency, galvanic, electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), microcurrent, and lymphatic drainage equipment, ensuring both safety and client satisfaction.

Level 2 qualification in Skincare or the CPD Level 5 Diploma In Aesthetics 

Structure of the Course

DAY 1 Induction

The course begins with an induction session that will outline your scheme of work for the course and provide instruction and deadlines for your online theory learning and assignment writing and learning student manual.

In class, your training focuses specifically on the practical electrotherapy treatments, which begin with a demonstration on how to use the Hydraderm machine probes, facial techniques and sequences specific to each probe. The latter part of the day is dedicated to hands-on practice, allowing you to practise these techniques on each other, fostering an experiential learning environment.

DAY 2 Practice Sessions

Your day begins with a practical demo of the Hydraderm facial, followed by a practical session, working in pairs to apply these facial techniques on each other. This hands-on approach not only enhances your learning experience but also fosters a deep understanding of how it feels to have a treatment as a client. As the day progresses, you'll gain further hands-on experience by performing both HydraDerm and HydraLift facials. These practice sessions are crucial, as they aim to boost your confidence and sharpen your skills, ensuring you're well-prepared for the case studies.

DAY 3 and 4 Summative Assessments

When you are competent, you will have a training session on how to carry out your final summative assessments on models, ensuring that you have a clear understanding of the assessment criteria. This is followed by the actual summative assessments performed on models, allowing you to demonstrate your practical competence. After each assessment, a valuable feedback session with your assessor and IV (Internal Verifier) who will provide you with constructive feedback,  action plan you to complete your final portfolio and sit the 2 theory exams.
