ET3A1 VTCT Level 3 Award in Education and Training

As the industry sharpens up to meet the legislation changes, the Level 3-5  qualifications in teaching and education are mandatory requirements for the assessor and internal verifier course. The level 3 teaching and education award is an entry-level qualification tailored for therapists with a background in beauty or aesthetic treatments. 

This course emphasises on creating lesson plans and delivering teaching sessions within a VTCT-accredited framework.You will be required to learn the theory and complete assignments remotely. The course structure is hands-on, with practical work experience and case studies within the Revival academy environment. 

After you qualify you will be able to lead and manage classes, and progres to the Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Achievement, enabling you to assess the students you teach.

Course Overview

The course commences with an informative induction PowerPoint presentation, providing guidance for online study and the completion of remote assignments. Following this, the two-day practical class will engage in lesson planning, participate in hands-on teaching with an actual class, learn classroom setup procedures, and understand assessment protocols, all while benefiting from the close guidance and observation of our experienced assessor. Additionally, obtaining supervised teaching work experience within a salon or school environment is a mandatory component of the course. This qualification serves as a valuable stepping stone for your future career prospects, opening the door for advancement to VTCT Level 3 Assessor training.

Upon completing this unit, you will gain the ability to understand the teaching role and its associated responsibilities within education and training, learn ways to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, and comprehend the relationships between teachers and other professionals in the education and training sector.

Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training:

You will learn skills necessary to implement inclusive teaching and learning approaches that cater to the diverse needs of all learners. This involves creating an engaging and motivating learning environment, effectively planning, delivering, and evaluating inclusive teaching sessions. Key learning outcomes include understanding the principles and benefits of inclusive teaching, creating supportive learning environments, planning lessons that accommodate different learning styles, and conducting and evaluating micro teaching sessions. Assessment involves delivering a microteaching session, self-evaluation, and submitting a written assignment, all aimed at enhancing your ability to engage and support all learners in achieving their full potential.

Understanding the principles and practices of assessment:

In this unit you will learn to evaluate  the significance of assessment as a learning process and explore various assessment methods, including formative, summative, diagnostic, and self-assessment. This unit will teach you to carry out assessments that are valid, reliable, fair and according to the specifications set in the learning outcomes. Additionally, you will be able to practically assess the students carrying out their  assessments, give constructive feedback, plan them and complete the VTCT assessment log book.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites in teaching required for this course, however you will need to have minimum 1 year  industry experience in the field you are looking to teach.

Structure of the Course

ONLINE THEORY AND ASSIGNMENTS TRAINING

After the initial induction day, you will embark on a period of remote study, where you will delve into the training manual, VTCT log book, and the foundational knowledge necessary to successfully tackle the online assignments. During this phase, you are expected to compile a comprehensive portfolio of evidence, which should be completed and submitted. There will be a tutor demo which will give you the teaching protocol that you can follow when you carry out two case studies within your own practice, putting your acquired knowledge into action.

DAY 1 PRACTICAL TRAINING

On the first day of the course, you will focus on creating effective lesson plans, and learn how to structure and organize teaching materials and content, ensuring that they align with specific learning objectives. Additionally, they will explore strategies for engaging learners and how to adapt your teaching to diverse student needs. You will gain insights which sets a solid foundation for your teaching and by the end of this class, you will have a clearer understanding of the essential components, such as lesson planning and be well-prepared to design engaging and impactful training class’s.

DAY 2 ASSESSMENTS

On day two, the focus shifts to practical assessment where you will apply your teaching skills by leading actual lessons with students, guiding them through the entire learning process from beginning to end. Throughout, our Assessor and Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) will closely observe your teaching approach. You will be expected to showcase your adaptability by tailoring your teaching methods to suit the preferences and individual needs of your students. This includes employing a diverse range of teaching strategies to enhance thier engagement and motivation, in an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
